ECO-POETICS WORKSHOP

with poetry reading by Nancy Campbell
& discussion with Chris Drury

Saturday 6 May

Kay Syrad and Clare Whistler will lead an eco-poetics workshop 10.30am – 3.30pm. At 4pm there will be a reading by award-winning artist and poet Nancy Campbell, who writes about her experiences in Greenland, followed by an open discussion between Nancy and Chris. There will also be a showing of Chris’s video-work on ice meltwater in Antarctica.

Eco-poetics is a term we are using in its broadest sense, to include visual and performance art as well as writing that pays attention to the relationship between nature and culture, language and perception* – which precisely is what Nancy Campbell’s recent collection, Disko Bay, achieves. On the day, we intend to explore the term itself, to study some examples of recent eco-poetic work, and have some time for your own making, moving or writing.

All welcome.

We have 12 places for the workshop and an additional 10 places for the poetry reading and discussion. Both events will take place at VERT Institute in Laughton, near Lewes, East Sussex.

Workshop + reading/discussion - £60 to include vegan lunch.

Reading/discussion only - £10

Earlybird discounts:  if you book your place by Friday 7th April prices reduced to £55 / £8
